Hemangioma

- i. Benign tumor of vascular origin; most common tumor of the spine but rarely cause problems
- ii. Most commonly occurs in the thoracolumbar spine
- iii. Radiographically appear as coarse vertical striations; on skull appear as a “spoke-wheel” or reticulated pattern
- iv. Most become symptomatic only after vertebral collapse or fracture
- v. Treatment: radiation therapy, external bracing or if spinal cord compression occurs then surgery
